Look Mum! I’m on TV!

Earlier this year I joined a 10-year-long tradition series based in the UK… a TV show that was brought to Australia for the very first time. Filmed at White Bay Powerhouse in Balmain in Sydney, the historic building was an epic setting for what was a very eventful day.

#PortraitArtistOfTheYearAu is a reality TV competition that features 9 artists and 3 famous sitters each episode. We had 4 hours to paint our sitter in our own style… for a chance to become Artist of the Year.

As you can imagine, my usual subjects are of the furry and feathery kind, so I set to practicing humans and creating a new system to complete a finished portrait in the 4-hour timeframe. It was… a journey, to say the least. You will have to tune in to watch the drama unfold!
